Preface#
It has been 5 days since the middle school entrance exam. Now, I can finally review my three years of junior high school.
Beginning#
I am not a native of Mianyang.
But I have spent almost fifteen years in Mianyang - kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, and even high school in two months will still be in Mianyang.
Honestly, I have spent less than a year in my hometown.
Why?
I don't know, because I have to listen to my parents - they say the education quality here is high.
But, isn't the education in Nanchang as good as a third-tier city?
I don't know, because I have no standard of comparison.
Mianyang is said to be a third-tier city, but the education level far exceeds most cities in the province. (Mianzhong and Chengdu No. 7 High School can compete in some scenarios)
So let's believe them for now.
Enrollment#
At that time, there was a saying about "snatching" (which means that each junior high school would "snatch" the best students from elementary school), and I was one of those chosen by No. 7 High School.
It's quite complicated
What does this mean? I don't have to worry about the entrance exam (if it's divided by regions, I would be directly assigned to No. 8 High School)
For someone like me who is not from here, I don't have to worry about junior high school.
Difficulties#
For some reasons, I didn't have many friends since I was young. Therefore, I have a somewhat introverted personality.
Fortunately, the situation improved in the last two years of elementary school. But then came junior high school.
This means that the relationships I built in elementary school became invalid.
At the beginning of the three years of junior high school, my social skills were still as poor as ever - I couldn't get along with others. At that time, the North City had not been divided yet, so many students from North City elementary schools were directly admitted to No. 7 High School.
In a large class, only 3 people came from the same elementary school, not to mention that the other person came from another campus.
This led to a problem: I hardly knew their inside jokes. (I had 2G network)
Later, a girl started spreading rumors about me, and soon, it spread like wildfire and the whole class knew about it.
Throughout the three years of junior high school, I have been thinking about how to integrate into the group. Many people say that you should maintain your independent personality. But may I ask: Have you tried it yourself?
To fit in with everyone, I could only go along with the jokes and become the subject of ridicule (to the point that later, my name became synonymous with a bad joke).
Even now, I still don't know how to integrate into a group.
Studies#
As a chosen student, my grades were naturally not bad. At least I could easily reach the A-level. What does this mean (๑•̌.•̑๑)ˀ̣ˀ̣
Going to Nanshan is definitely not a problem (older people often say: Grandma, I want to go to Nanshan Without three tricks, forget about going to Nanshan)
At that time, I didn't think I could go to Mianzhong, so until the second year of junior high school, my goal was always Nanshan.
Then, during the final exams in the third year of junior high school, the top three students in the class (including me) were invited by Nanshan to visit, implying that we shouldn't choose Mianzhong.
Then, Mianzhong called my parents and invited me to visit on the weekend (they said it was a visit, but it was actually brainwashing + free meal). To be honest, the food at Mianzhong was really delicious 😅
Under the bombardment of Mianzhong, I chose Mianzhong as my first choice (before Nanshan said that if I passed the exam, they would waive my tuition, but considering that I didn't lack that thousand yuan, I ultimately chose Mianzhong).
As for the final result, I successfully passed the entrance exam for Mianzhong.
Let me show you what the acceptance letter looks like:
You can't deny that it looks pretty good
School Trip#
In early June, the school held a park trip. The main purpose was to earn tickets and exchange them for food. Now, I only remember that I had a great time that day, but the emptiness after it ended is even more unforgettable.
Throughout the three years of junior high school, I worked hard, and in the end, it all ended with just one ticket.
Hard to cut, harder to sort out, it's a feeling of parting, but it's not an ordinary taste in my heart.
Conclusion#
In three years of junior high school, 12 seasons passed, 1015 days and nights, but it all ended in the blink of an eye.
Honestly, my junior high school years were not satisfactory because I didn't grow much.
But from an academic perspective, my junior high school years were successful because I successfully entered Mianyang's highest-ranked high school - Sichuan Mianyang Middle School.
Before, I was looking forward to the arrival of the entrance exam because it meant a summer vacation without homework. But now, my heart feels empty. After much thought, I decided to write this article as a summary of this imperfect junior high school experience.
Shao Hu finished writing this article in the early morning of June 25, 2024.
